    SHADOW SURPRISE, needed one race to figure it all out and in his second start he took off like a slingshot and wired the field easily to draw off and win in hand by 9 1/.2 lengths.  He ended 2017 with 2 back to back wins and started 2108 with another. This time he wired the field at Finger Lakes sprinting 4 1/2 furlongs He is trained and part-owned by  Michael A.     SUPER SURPRISE ran a tough race to win the BIOGIO'S ROSE S., going 1 1/16  at Aqueduct  She had broken her maiden in an upset of the 2015 Empire-bred Maid of the Mist S. and captured the state-bred Fleet Indian S. last summer at Saratoga.  Today she stalked a rival from second and inched closer passing the three-eighths pole, SUPER SURPRISE poked her head in front at the top of the stretch and edged away in the final furlong to a convincing score. "She's a really good filly," said winning rider Jose Ortiz.

  • SUPER SURPRISE takes the Maid of the Mist at Belmont

    SUPER SURPRISE became a second stakes winner for her sire winning the Maid Of The Mist S on NY Showcase Day at Belmont. Third in her debut at Saratoga, she ran second in the Spa’s Seeking the Ante S. lter that month. Despite a bump at the start, SUPER SURPRISE  settled  in midpack and then wove her way through horses on the turn to gain the lead.

    "I thought she finally put it all together,” commented Byron Hughes, assistant to winning trainer Todd Pletcher. “We knew she was a talented filly. Johnny [Velazquez] did a great job riding her. She saved ground, sat right off the pace, and got up in time. Stretching her out [to a mile] definitely helped. I think she's the type of filly that needs to close on a good pace, and she did that today."

    SUDDEN SURPRISE was 4th in the same race.

    Repole Stable's homebred Sudden Surprise remained undefeated in three starts after grabbing the early lead and just holding off Get Jets in the $150,000 Bertram F. Bongard Stakes for New York-bred 2-year-olds Sept. 27 at Belmont Park. The victory prompted owner Mike Repole to say the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) is on the radar for the son of the Repole-owned Giant Surprise. "I joked with (trainer) Todd (Pletcher) that our next start will be either in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile or the Sleepy Hollow Stakes (for New Yorkbreds)," Repole said after the race. "This race came up like a grade I New York-bred 2 year-old stakes, probably the toughest New York-bred 2-year-old stakes race in history." Sudden Surprise has won on the lead in all three of his races.

    Repole Stables homebred SUDDEN SURPRISE led wire to wire to become the first winner for his freshman sire going 5 1/2 furlongs here July 30, and continued his winning ways.  The colt pressed the pace from the three path and when sked for more turning for home, he shook loose under steady encouragement and posted a two-length victory adding the first stakes winner to his sire’s resume. He remains undefeated in two starts and has earned $163,800 + breeder's awards.

    To add to the excitement, Super Surprise ran second in the Seeking The Ante S becoming a new stakes placed horse for his freshman sire.
